Today she decided to show up. Last week we scheduled Jamie to be induced today at 5am, so 5am rolled around and we showed up. During check in we asked about the same nurse that delivered Isabell and poof, the magical pixies of perfect land had already assigned her to delivery. She didnt remember us but had requested us the night before because she had a feeling that we would be an easy birth. Today was her last of six 12-hour days in a row. The previous 5 deliveries had complications and she was hoping for an easier time today. After being giddy with our luck (We REALLY like Jennifer McKinley), we got started with Jamies IV’s and before too long we were zipping along.

Amelia was born at 12:09 PM.  She was out after just 10 minutes of labor, all 6 lbs 7 oz of her.  At 20 inches long, she’s an inch taller than Isabell and half a pound lighter.  Shes definitely got some skinny legs and LONG feet.  Jamie was perfect and nothing went awry.  A bit of cleanup and Amelia was wrapped and in my arms in no time.  After some resting and tidying up, Shelly was our first guest.  Amelia was a gem and got her first bath then as well.  A line of family and friends came through, including Isabell.  Isabell was very sweet and gentle and this may have been helped by a doll sized stroller that Amelia brought Isabell as a ‘condolences’ present.

There we have it! The first few hours of Amelias life was not hard.  Here is our WONDERFUL nurse with Isabell 2 years ago, and today with Amelia:

So now its 6pm and we’re settled into a room at our hospital.   It was slow go until an hour ago, then everything seemed to really start moving forward.  So, hopefully in the next couple hours we’ll have a baby girl to show off.

Poor Jamie https://nashon.com/2008/10/16/poor-jamie https://nashon.com/2008/10/16/poor-jamie#comments Thu, 16 Oct 2008 18:06:57 +0000 http://nashon.com/?p=84 We went to the Doc yesterday.  She told a very sad Jamie that it looks like our daughter is in there for the long haul.  The bright spot was that if the 6th of November came around, our doctor would be willing to induce.  I believe Jamie stops every hour or so, looks at her stomach and demands “COME OUT TODAY!”.   I fully blame the non-early birth on Jamie’s parents.  The told her when she was younger that they hope she has a kid “Just like you!”.  This means our daughter is going to be difficult and its already showing.

Jamie’s current refrain when asked how she’s feeling is “All done. Just done”.  Something wonderful for me though, is now Jamie wants to be in bed at 8:30.  I love my sleep and now all I need is for her to quit going to the bathroom every 30 minutes in the night.  Maybe she’ll sleep on the couch so I can get a full nights sleep?  Is that asking too much?

You can see the movement in Jamies belly when she kicks.  This morning, with my hand, she was really active and I felt four or five in a row.

Its a GIRL! https://nashon.com/2008/06/18/its-a-girl https://nashon.com/2008/06/18/its-a-girl#comments Wed, 18 Jun 2008 14:40:10 +0000 http://nashon.com/2008/06/18/its-a-girl So we went in for the 20 week ultrasound last week.  Our mooch wasn’t wanting to play nice and give up her secret.  The tech had to really jam the wand into Jamies belly to get the baby to move into a better viewing position.  After some coaxing we found shes a she!  We also got to see her throw a nice left hook into Jamies tummy.  She’s starting to really squirm. Jamie says she feels her all the time now.  The rest of the ultrasound was pretty standard. We saw feet.  We saw all the important parts and the tech said it looked like we had a healthy growing baby girl.  The ultrasound even shows parts of the brain and spine. Very cool stuff.

Jamie is definitely slowing down.  Her energy level is zero after 3pm.  It seems growing a baby is exhausting work.  Her appetite is picking back up though.  Breyers has come out with lactose free vanilla ice cream and made a lifelong friend in Jamie.  Jamies latest favorite item is a homemade milkshake with strawberries and bananas.
