Our new pet

So we all know that Nashon is a gadget geek.  He likes the new and best of all the toys out there, though he rarely gets to play wtih them, let alone own them.  After spending a day at a friend’s house, Nashon fell in love with their pet Roomba.  He came home that night, and as luck would have it, woot.com had Roomba’s for sale at a great price.  Nashon just had to have it!!  So it arrived today.  He has already set it up and watched it endlessly as it scooted around the house cleaning up the dust and dirt that was all over the floor (well, we HAD to make sure there was something for it to clean up).  He took pictures of our new pet and everything, and is trying to convince Isabell that she isn’t nervous around it.  I think we shall call it Spot…

6 Month Checkup

Isabell went in on Monday for her regular checkup.  The big numbers are 27″ long, 18 lbs 6 oz, and 17″ head circumference.  Shes in the 90th percentile for height, weight and head size, so she might be a big kid but shes a big proportionate kid.

Shes now eating plenty of solid food. 2-4 feedings a day.  Her favorite would be peaches, which also happen to be the most staining behind the carrots we fed her last week.  She loves her high chair, it means Jamie and I can eat dinner at the table with her in her chair.  Shes quite content to sit and play there with us.  Sometimes she even demands that she eat along side of us.  Jamie is becoming quite adept at “one bite for Isabell, one bite for Jamie”.  We are excited to start feeding her more textures than just super purees!!  This morning she got grown up apple sauce, and tonight we’re thinking about mashed potatos.  mmmm….potatos….

Mt Vernon Tulip Festival

Today after church we decided to take Isabell up to the tulip festival for the first time.  We had a great time!  Little Isabell loved to see all of the bright colors, and was just fascinated by the flower petals.  We got too close a few times, and she grabbed them, the little stinker.  She was very happy, smiling and flirting with strangers a lot, and generally being a great little kid.

As she’s gotten a bit older (if you can describe a 6 month old as older), she has become even more fun.  She is interested in what we do, and what she can do to get our attention.  Her new tricks include: holding a toy over the edge of the high chair and waiting till daddy looks over before smiling and dropping the toy, and she is now growling and blowing raspberries on a daily basis.  She is so very funny, and enjoys laughing as much as she makes us laugh.

Anyway, May is “movie month”, so Isabell is practicing spending time alone with other people.  One down two more to go.  Hope she keeps being a happy kiddo!  I think she will be, until those teeth start to pop in.

Hoppy Easter 2009

We decorated easter eggs on Saturday afternoon.  Isabell was interested in watching Nashon, and trying to eat the eggs, of course!  She was beautiful in her easter dress, but all of my pictures turned out fuzzy.  I’ll try and post better ones later.  Isabell was a trooper!  She skipped all of her afternoon naps, and was still a pleasant giggly girl all evening.  She let gramma and grampa hold her and play with her, and she got to enjoy some whipped cream for dessert.

What Isabell is thinking:

Oh that looks tasty, can I eat it?

That thing is blue, can I eat it?

That is soft, can I eat it?

You’re holding something, can I eat it?

You aren’t holding something, can I eat you?

My fingers are nearby, can I eat them?

Isabell’s first “real food”

This afternoon we decided to appease Isabell and give her some “real’ food.  She was a rock star!!!  She ate about 2 tablespoons of rice cereal, and didn’t really push any of it out!  Most of the mess on her face is from cereal hitting her lips instead of her tongue when the spoon was going in.  So I guess Mommy was the messier one!  She was very excited to be eating, and I’m sure she’ll continue to love it.

Our Trip to LA

This past week was spring break for me at work, so Isabell and I tagged along with Nashon on his business trip to LA.  It was quite fun, other than Nashon spent entirely too much time working!!  Isabell and I spent time at the park and around Nashon’s office (hotels are NOT that exciting).  We spent time with Nashon’s aunt and her family since they live not far from where he was working.  We have decided that LA traffic really IS worse than Seattle during rush hour.  Isabell was happy and didn’t want to nap while we were there, so she got really really cranky when it was bedtime and we had missed our last two naps.  On Thursday all three of us got to spend the day together before catching a flight home.  We drove to the Getty Museum and walked around the galleries and the gardens.  Isabell was a perfect little angel; she slept for part of the tour, and then she “sang” as one of the attendants told us.  She was happy and giggly.    Nashon found that she had a “trigger” for talking; every time you held both of her hands, she giggled and started talking.  She was also an angel on the airplane, falling asleep just before we boarded, woke up for take off, then slept until we got to the shuttle in Seattle.   We are just hoping that she can fall back into her normal nap routine within the next day, though Sunday we’re off to Port Angeles for Easter, so she’ll be off again!!  Here are some pictures from our trip.

Sunny Days

Updates from the world of Isabell.  We have enjoyed the super rainy and sometime snowy days cuddling up at home.  We even learned a new trick of two; she can hold her own bottle now!  She still has some trouble with the big 8 oz size, but the little 4-5 ouncers she is a pro with!  But now that the sunshine has returned (finally!!) we have tried to take advantage of it.  We took a walk up through the woods to the park that is behind our house.  We found that they have made significant changes to the wooded part since last Fall when we were last up there.  The off leash dog park has now been completed, the ampitheater has grass on the hill, and the baseball diamonds have been completed.  We walked the long way, and even tried to take the stroller through the woods, not such a good idea.  Isabell got to touch grass and trees for the first time, and she doesn’t particularly care for the sun in her eyes.  I think Nashon enjoyed the sun as much as she did, and I managed to not get pink today!  Time will tell if Isabell has my skin or Nashon’s; we’re hoping for Nashon’s so she doesn’t burn quite so easily.

I should also mention that Isabell is getting good at laughing when you laugh, and also at aiming where she spits up.  She has now gotten me in the eyes/glasses twice, and a few times down my shirt.  She aims for Nashon’s shirt pockets.

Isabell in March

It has come to my attention that people would like more updated pictures.  So, here are her pics for the month of March.  We had fun playing with her boyfriend Matty, we went on some walks on the few sunny days we had, and enjoyed our every day lives.  She is such a sweet little baby most the time, and is pretty easy to calm down when she gets upset.  I just can’t wait for some sunshine so we can take her outside to play!!
