4 month old stats

We went to the pediatrician yesterday for Isabell’s 4-month old well baby check.  She was so unhappy about her shots, I think she would have sat up and slapped the nurse if she could have.  She calmed down pretty easily, as usual, and hung tight to me as I carried her out the door; I think she was happy to leave.  Here are her stats…Man she’s growing fast!

Length: 25 inches     75th percentile;

Weight: 14 pounds, 14 ounces     75th percentile;

Head Circumference: 16.75 inches     90th percentile

She is now wearing size two diapers, and LOVES to look at new people.  However, if it’s getting close to nap time or bedtime, she really won’t look at you happily unless her mommy is holding  her.  My sister keeps finding this out the hard way.  I try to tell her to come over at 8am when she is super happy, but that is apparently early on a weekend!!

More pictures of Isabell

Apparently our lives now revolve primarily around Isabell.  Not that we thought it would be any different, nor would we want it to be (most of the time).  She is getting better at rolling over, and is almost able to go from her back to her tummy without any help.  She is consistently grabbing her knees, and has started to get and hold onto her toes; she hasn’t put them in her mouth yet.

Isabell is also  showing a LOT of interest in food, and is starting to try and eat my food when I’m eating.  We had her boyfriend (Matty) over this weekend; he is a few months older and is eating pureed food.  Isabell sat at the table with us while he was eating peas, and got very excited about it.  Then she cried when I kept feeding Matty and not giving her any!

uh oh….

That’s it…We’re in for it now!!  The monster has a small degree of mobility!  She has been able to pivot on her back in a circle for a few weeks now, but today she rolled over!!  She did it once about a week ago, but we couldn’t re-create it, so we figured it to be a fluke.  But today I got her to roll from her stomach to her back twice.  We’re going to have to keep a closer eye on her now, and Nashon won’t get to just put on his headphones and play video games.

That said, it was really fun to watch her do it, and the suprised look on her face when we cheered for her.  We’ll see how often she does it now…

Isabell is a talking machine

Just liker her mom, Isabell has decided that she wants to talk whenever I put her in the car. She talks the entire way home from Ammie (Jamies mom) daycare. I did my best to capture it with my camera phone. Its mostly close up of one eye but you can hear her talk up a storm.

A new shift…

Well, I started back at work this week.  Isabell spent a few hours at my mom’s house for “Ammie Care” yesterday for the first time, and did wonderfully.  She didn’t cry the entire time she was there, until I arrived to pick her up.  Nashon thinks she didn’t want to leave Ammie, I’m going to go with she remembered that she was supposed to miss me when I’m gone.

Today is the long day at “Ammie Care”, we’ll see how she does.  On the up-side, she slept through the night again last night, so perhaps her stuffy nose is almost gone!  She is much more pleasant when she’s had a long night sleep.

We always knew she was a beauty…

Since the day Isabell was born, we have always thought she was a beautiful little baby.  Our friends and people we meet have always confirmed our thoughts by telling us just how beautiful she is, and that they’re not “just saying” it.  But we all know that adults lie, especially about babies being cute; it’s just the thing you do when you see someone’s little one.

But today we know that Isabell has really past the beautiful baby test!  We were sitting in church, and a little girl about six years old comes up to me and says “I really like your baby, she’s beautiful!”  We have never seen or spoken to this little girl before, and while adults may lie about things like this, little girls don’t talk to complete strangers about these things when they don’t really mean them!!

Enjoy the video Nashon posted, it’s from the last two months; she is almost ready to roll!!!

We’re making progress

Nashon has finally created an account on the website for me (Jamie) to post new things on here.  Now you can all see who is better at posting information, and who is (usually) right about things!

Little Isabell is making daily progress toward becoming her own independant person!  Today we practiced rolling over (we still don’t like tummy time, but rolling is okay), and sitting up (she still needs mommy to hold her hips).  She is now consistently reaching for and grabbing toys, which means I have more time to do things when I’m at home since she can entertain herself for a few minutes at a time, a much desired skill at this point.  Today she also transfered a toy from one hand to the other; though only once and I couldn’t get her to do it again.

We have also made a big step with our wardrobe.  We are FINALLY out of the newborn clothes, and most of the 0-3 outfits.  Today I pulled out the bucket labeled “3-6 months” and found some really cute dresses.  This child has so many clothes, we may just put all the 0-3 month things away since she’ll likely grow out of the 3-6 month sizes before she tries them all on!

One more week and she’ll start spending her days with Ammie when I get to go back to work!
